Sunless Tanning Pills

Just as it is with every other aspect of the beauty industry – there is a certain pill that you can take in order to acquire a tan. Similar to diet pills, skin improving pills, anti-ageing pills – sunless tanning pills are available to the general consuming public. The question is: do they really work? As of now, Health Canada has not yet considered tanning pills to be a safe way of acquiring a tan due to the possible risks that it poses to a person's health.

Naturally, the effectiveness and safeness of oral tanning products or sunless tanning pills still need to be tested. Such products are also not approved yet by the Food and Drug Authority in the United States. Here are a few reasons why sunless tanning pills are considered generally unsafe for a person's health. First, they contain a large amount of a color additive called Canthaxanthin. This component may cause crystal formation in the retina of your eyes. Aside from that, it may also have the side effect of turning your skin to an unsightly shade of orange or brown. Cramps, diarrhea and nausea are the other ill-effects of tanning pills to one's health.

If you would really like to have an effortless way to acquire a tan, why not just lie down on a tanning bed for a few minutes? Aside from the fact that tanning beds would not have any negative effects to your health, they are a really convenient way of getting that healthy glow on your skin – minus the nausea, cramps and diarrhea. Unless the health authorities have already approved the effectiveness and safety of sunless tanning pills, they are not recommended by experts for general public consumption.
