Tanning Naturally
There are several ways by which you can acquire a tan. First, you can get a tan the natural way – by lazing in some tropical location under the direct heat of the sun for several hours. Second, you can lie instead on an indoor tanning bed and the sun's rays will be reproduced with the Ultraviolet rays from the tanning bed lamps. Third, you can use sunless tanning products such as spray-on tans, lotions and gels.
From these three, you may decide to prefer natural tanning. If you do prefer tanning naturally as opposed to the other two methods, there are some important things that you need to remember. First, do not rush it. Acquiring a natural tan will take some time. Try to stay out in the sun during the times that it is the safest – keep away from direct sunlight between ten in the morning and three in the afternoon to avoid the times when the sun's rays are harshest. Natural tanning may take several days, but it will be better to wait than suffer sunburn from staying out in the sun for too long.
If you are fair-skinned, if you have light eyes, if you have sensitive skin which easily burns or do not tan – and finally, if you have history of cancer, never attempt to stay out in the sun for too long a time. These cases will expose you to the risks of skin cancer. A less than ten minute session under the sun, before ten in the morning or after three in the afternoon should be good for you. Finally, slather sunscreen – this is the only weapon that you have against the heat of the sun, and it will make your tan healthy and even looking.
